Minutes

Board Members Present: Annette Zinky, Rand Jenkins, Russ Rothamer, Laurah Hagen

Staff Members Present: Laura Kelly, Jelenann Salyers

Call to Order:  Annette Zinky called the meeting to order at 2:08pm

Approval of Consent Agenda: Annette called for a motion to approve agenda. Rand made a motion to approve, Russ seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

Information Items:

Laura Kelly discussed documents that were sent to board members for review, and highlighted notable changes including revenue from offering meals for students and hiring of an additional SPED instructor. Laura walked board members through significant line items, clarified that his budget does not reflect any carryover budget from last year, and represents her thorough conversations with ADI. Laura clarified next steps in the budget process.

Russ offered caution on language choices to ensure compliance with HR requirements.

Board discussed differences in Instructional line item from 2014-2015 and current budget.

Laura clarified questions on base and performance pay for teachers.

Jelenann clarified AZ laws regarding payment to teachers from different portions of the budget, and updated board on issues she’s researching regarding FALA’s compliance with State standards.

Laura clarified questions on the use and collection of tax credit money.

Annette called for a motion to approve the budget, with the understanding that it may change after a 10-day public comment period. Russ made a motion, Rand seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

Board thanked Laura and Jelenann for their work and diligence.

Board scheduled follow up conference call for Monday June 22nd, 4pm.
