6 WAYS you can help your community during the COVID-19 Pandemic
Here are 6 WAYS you can help your community during the COVID-19 Pandemic
Please email Janeece Henes if you have questions or suggestions.
Let keep this open a collaboration of ideas.
1.SEW/MAKE
You can MAKE handwritten write thank you cards or small artworks for health care workers or other first responders. More ideas here for nurses & healthcare workers If you SEW, you can make maks. Here is a YouTube tutorial. We can provide these to anyone who is still working during the pandemic. You can also make knitted things that we can get to folks who would need them with Shelter Services, Hope Cottage, Catholic Charities, etc.. Great story in the Daily Sun, with FALA Alumni, Eileen Baca.
2.PACK
We can organize a PACKING DAY for our FALA community if folks are interested. We can pack snacks, health kits, art/activity kits for FALA families. We can find a day for a small group to pack (6’ social distancing, gloves, masks) or you can pack at home with your family and drop off and we will get to who needs it. Feel free to email,
Brown Bag: fruit, rice, beans, pasta,
Art/Activity Kits: sketchbook, markers, colored pencils, crayons, coloring books, pencils, pastels, watercolor sets, brushes, children’s books, school supplies.
- CREATE
You can create ART ABANDONMENT for your neighborhoods, for postal workers, delivery folks, place in parks on trees, etc. Create art (song, visual art, film, music, dance, etc.) and share it out on FALA FB or Instagram. Put your visual art/photography in your window for your neighbors.
Create your own video/webinar and teach something. Be inspired by Yo-Yo Ma Songs of Hope
And Sunshine Songs Musical Theater.
Using the #SongsOfComfort hashtag, share your videos and photos to the NewsHour’s Canvas arts Facebook group here. We may use them for a future story on-air or online.
- VOLUNTEER
Only if you feel safe and healthy enough.
