My name is Douglas Lyerly. I’ve been teaching professionally since 2006 and unprofessionally since 1996 (I volunteered a lot as a teen). I studied History Education and Theatre at the University of Madison-Wisconsin and Bilingual/Bicultural Education at Depaul University. I have previously taught English as a Second Language in Japan, Library-Media Studies in Chicago, and Middle School and High Theatre, Writing for Performance, Speech and Debate, Liberal Studies, Leadership, Social Studies, and integrated Social Studies/English Language Arts at FALA.
I live with three chickens, three Madagascar hissing cockroaches, two cats, two children, and one wife. I love books, democratic-republics, music, FALA, talking, not talking, and teaching! I play a lot of guitar, ukulele, drums, and piano in my free time, but not very well. I moved to Flagstaff from Chicago in 2014 and have been teaching at FALA ever since. FALA is the best place to work as a teacher and a great place for students to learn. USA! USA! USA!
