Jessina Clasen staff photoHey hey! Here’s a little glimpse into who I am as a person and a professional. I grew up in Kayenta, AZ on the rez. I have family roots in Colorado and visit fairly frequently. I love my dog, Ripley, and my cat, Jango. If I am not making art or teaching then I am probably watching cartoons, cosplaying or planning my next trip.

I attended CCC and obtained my associates degree before transitioning to NAU graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science in Art Education. During my college career I studied many different mediums of art including but not limited to mixed media, drawing, installation, sculpture, ceramics and (my favorite) painting. I also had the opportunity to see many art works in person through my program especially when attending a summer course in England. I graduated Outstanding Senior for the College of Arts and Letters in 2018.

I am certified in teaching kindergarten through 12th grade art. I have taught art at DeMiguel Elementary, Coconino High School and participated in trade school events for high schoolers on the Navajo Reservation. While I was the art teacher at DeMiguel, I was nominated for Rookie Teacher of the Year for Coconino County.

I love teaching at FALA and I cannot fully express how excited I am to be back. Let’s make some art!
