FALA Welcomes New Director of Student Support Services

Welcome new Director of Student Support Services, Dr. Jennifer Netzky!

“Jennifer is thrilled to share her passion and skill in fostering positive student experiences at Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy. Throughout her extensive career, she has focused on creating nurturing environments where all learners can thrive. Her approach to Student Support and Exceptional Student Services is built on integrity, inclusivity, and collaboration. She emphasizes the importance of collaboration among students, families, educators, and the community to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

Jennifer has been dedicated to working with children and youth since 1996. Her journey began with leading women and youth development projects through the Peace Corps in Turkmenistan. She went on to pioneer a therapeutic arts day school in Chicago and, for two decades, served as a clinical mental health provider in various private and public-school settings. During this tenure, she developed programs, protocols, and trainings for Restorative Practices, Trauma-Informed Schools, and Crisis Intervention, Prevention, and Postvention practices, with a special focus on addressing the unique needs of students in Special Education.

Jennifer holds a Doctorate in School Psychology from Capella University, a Master of Social Work from The University of Michigan, and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Anthropology from The University of Iowa. She regularly presents to professionals on current topics targeting the social, emotional, behavioral, and academic advancement of students. She is a lifelong learner, continuously seeking ways to improve educational practices through research-based initiatives.

Jennifer is committed to meeting each individual where they are and establishing meaningful relationships across staff and students. She believes that when students feel genuinely cared for by adults, they develop a strong sense of belonging and responsibility towards their school, which provides them with the foundation, support, and respect they need to reach their full potential. Jennifer treasures FALA’s close-knit community, where she aims to make a positive impact on students’ lives by cultivating holistic learning experiences.”
